4th Symposium on Regional General Practice Promotes Interdisciplinary Exchange in Healthcare

09.06.2026 -

Under the banner of interdisciplinary exchange and cross-sector networking, the 4th Symposium on Regional General Practice was held on June 3, 2026, at the Medical Faculty of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The event brought together numerous stakeholders in regional healthcare and provided a platform for professional dialogue, networking, and shared perspectives on current challenges in the healthcare sector.

The focus was on concise keynote presentations from various areas of healthcare. Representatives from medicine, nursing, counseling, rehabilitation, palliative care, health insurance companies, the Medical Service, and other institutions presented their fields of work, current developments, and specific challenges. The subsequent Q&A sessions facilitated a direct exchange between speakers and the audience and highlighted how important collaboration among different professional groups is for needs-based care.

“Good healthcare arises from the interaction of many professions. Our symposium aims to highlight these different perspectives and promote dialogue among the stakeholders,” emphasized Dr. Robin John from the Department of General Practice Education and Continuing Education in Regional General Medicine (HAWIRA).

In addition to the presentations, information booths and networking opportunities provided space for personal conversations and new connections. Participants took the opportunity to deepen existing collaborations and initiate new networks within the regional healthcare landscape.

With this symposium, the HAWIRA department continues its efforts to strengthen the exchange between the various sectors of the healthcare system.

The event’s strong turnout underscores the need for formats that bring different professional groups and healthcare sectors into dialogue with one another. A continuation of the symposium next year is already planned.
